The work, in the world's words.
Stories, research and voices from the changemakers whose work shapes ours: leopards returning to the West Coast, community gardens in Vrygrond, fruit trees in Nairobi's schools, aquaponics on show at the Science Centre. Every item links to its original source.
Leading stories
What the world is reporting.
Coverage of the people and organisations in the Commons, newest first. The headline is the outlet's own; the line beneath it is ours.
Knowledge, peer reviewed.
Papers by researchers whose work informs food security, soil, insect protein and coexistence with wildlife. Cited as published, with a plain-English line on why it matters.
In their own words.
Opinion pieces, talks and podcasts by changemakers. Their views are their own.
The people behind the work.
Profiles of changemakers and the knowledge they share: their research, programmes, writing and talks, linked to the source.
Generous, and careful.
The Commons celebrates other people's work. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.
Original sources
Every item links to where it was first published. We show the headline and write our own one-line summary; we never copy articles or photographs.
No borrowed claims
Being featured is not an endorsement. Inclusion does not mean a person or organisation endorses Uthando or works with us, unless they have said so publicly.
People decide
A personal profile appears only after that person has seen it and said yes. Research is cited as published, the way any library would.
Corrections welcome
If something is wrong, out of date or you would rather not be included, tell Thando or email info@uthandoafrica.com and we will correct or remove it.
