Who we areUthando Africa Digital Solutions, Cape Town, South Africa. Contact our information officer at info@uthandoafrica.com.
What we collect through ThandoOnly when you press Send: your name, email address, organisation, what you need, your answers, the message you send us, a reference number, the page you were on, the country your connection comes from, and the time. Unsent drafts are never stored.
What we do not collectWe do not store your IP address. To stop abuse we keep a one-way, daily-changing code of it for up to a day. We use no advertising or tracking scripts and no tracking cookies.
WhyTo reply to you, prepare a quote, deliver the work you ask for, and protect the service from abuse.
Is it voluntary?Yes. Without an email address we cannot send you a confirmation, but you can still reach us on WhatsApp or by email.
Who else processes itCloudflare hosts this website, stores enquiries and runs Thando's optional AI steps. Resend sends confirmation emails. If you choose to send your message on WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own terms apply. Requests for safety or due-diligence help never go to an AI.
Transfers outside South AfricaThese providers process information outside South Africa. We use established providers with data protection terms, and we tell you here, as POPIA section 72 expects.
Changemaker profiles and Impact NewsProfiles are drawn from a person's public, professional work and published only after they say yes. News items keep a headline, the source and our own short summary.
How long we keep itOnly as long as we need it to reply and do the work, and we delete it when you ask.
Your rightsYou may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how it is used (POPIA sections 23, 24 and 11). You may complain to the Information Regulator.
ChildrenThis website is not meant for children to submit information. School programmes handle children's information only with a parent or guardian's consent.
SecuritySee the Uthando Safety Protocol for the safeguards built into this site. If personal information is ever compromised, we will tell the Information Regulator and the people affected as soon as reasonably possible.
